Students and staff are celebrating at Newstead Wood School today after a very successful set of A Level results.

Overall, 25% of students achieved all A* or A grades. 43% of entries achieved A* or A grades and 70% achieved A*-B grades.

Congratulating students, Alan Blount, Headmaster of Newstead Wood School, said:

“I am delighted with the results our students have achieved today and would like to extend my congratulations to all of them and their families. They reflect the effort put in by these young people over the last two years, and the parents and staff who have supported them.

“These results build on our Outstanding Ofsted inspection earlier this year and I am incredibly proud of our students and staff. I wish all our Year 13 leavers all the best with their future studies as they go on to their chosen universities.

Mrs Sarah Sword, Deputy Headteacher said:

“We are particularly proud of a number of students who have overcome significant personal issues to gain the grades they needed for a university place. Providing care and support to enable students to reach their full potential is one of our core aims and it is very satisfying to be able to celebrate with these young people today. It’s lovely to see the eclectic range of subjects they have opted to study, which widely reflects their talents and interests. I’m delighted by the number of offers that have already been accepted, including 8 to Oxbridge.
