On 11 December the Music Department hosted a joyful and uplifting Christmas Concert, celebrating the incredible musical talent across the school. A large, enthusiastic audience gathered to enjoy a diverse programme of performances, ranging from festive favourites to modern classics and cultural pieces.
The first half of the concert featured impressive contributions from groups including the Year 10 Music GCSE students, last year's Battle of the Bands winners, Steel Pans, Carnatic Ensemble, Year 7 Voices, the Classical Guitar Ensemble, Junior Orchestra, and the Songwriting Contest winners. Each performance showcased the vast range of musical talents at Newstead.
After the interval, the festive spirit continued with vibrant folk songs, selections from The Nutcracker, Carol of the Bells, and performances by the Chamber Choir, OG Choir, and Jazz Collective. The audience also saw a sneak peek of a song from the upcoming School of Rock production, followed by a powerful finale from the Senior Orchestra. The evening ended well with a memorable performance of All I Want for Christmas Is You.
It was a lovely celebration of everyone’s hard work, talent, and musical imagination. This event truly captured the spirit of the season.
