House System

At Newstead Wood School, we take pride in fostering a strong sense of community and belonging among our students and staff. To achieve this, every member of our school family is assigned to one of our six Houses: Nightingale, Wren, Swift, Falcon, Griffin, and Phoenix.

When new students join us, they are placed in a House corresponding to their form group, creating immediate connections and a sense of identity within the school.

Promoting Unity Through Competitions

Throughout the academic year, we organise a diverse range of activities designed to promote healthy competition and strengthen the bonds within our school community. These competitions encompass a variety of activities, from traditional sports and performing arts events to our unique versions of popular game shows such as ‘University Challenge’.

House Leadership

Each House is led by a dedicated Year 12 House Captain, who is supported by a dynamic student House Leadership Team. These student leaders play a crucial role in organising and inspiring their fellow House members to participate enthusiastically in various events.

Upholding Our Ethos and Values

During all competitions and activities, we expect our students and staff to uphold our school's ethos and values, promoting respect, teamwork, and fairness. This commitment to our core principles ensures that our House System continues to thrive as a positive and inclusive part of our school culture.

The Newstead House Cup

As the academic year comes to a close, we celebrate the accomplishments of our Houses by awarding the prestigious Newstead House Cup to the winners of the House Championship. This serves as a symbol of recognition for their outstanding achievements and contributions to our school community.

At Newstead Wood School, our House System is not just a tradition; it's a vibrant and integral part of who we are. It encourages camaraderie, friendly competition, and personal growth, ensuring that each student's journey here is filled with memorable experiences and a strong sense of belonging.
