The United Learning Trustees have the ultimate legal responsibility for the governance of all United Learning schools. Each school also has its own Local Governing Body (LGB), to which clear roles and responsibilities have been delegated. The central purpose of the LGB is to provide support and challenge to the school on behalf of the Group Board, drawing on local knowledge of the school and its community.
Click here to view the Scheme of Delegation to see full details of which responsibilities are retained by the Group Board and which are delegated to the LGB (as well as those delegated to the Executive/Central Office team and Headteachers).
We are a forward-thinking school, aiming to prepare our students for a rapidly changing world by equipping them with critical thinking skills, a global perspective and respect for the core values of tolerance, honesty, loyalty and compassion.
In the context of exceptional teaching and learning in an academically challenging, stimulating, yet supportive environment, students are encouraged to develop innovative, creative and empathetic approaches to meeting challenge and play an active role in the design of their own learning. Students are instilled with the values of confidence, resilience and emotional intelligence to make a difference to lives at Newstead Wood and beyond.
All members of the school community are valued and contribute to the future success of the School raising self-esteem and expectations through the recognition of all achievements; both academic and extra-curricular.
Nurturing these skills underpins the excellence in education we offer and makes Newstead Wood an exceptional school with wide-ranging opportunities for all.
