Year 7 Entry
Newstead Wood School is a highly selective girls school, with a co-educational Sixth Form.
General Application Process
To apply for a Year 7 place at Newstead Wood School you must first register for the selection test by completing our Supplementary Information Form ("SIF") which will only be available here from 1 May to 30 June of each admissions year. Your daughter will be in Year 5 at this point. We have an open morning in July of each year purely for Year 5 students who have registered to sit the selection test. Booking for this is online via this page and will be open around Easter time each year.
The selection test takes place in September of the year preceding entry to the school, while your daughter is in Year 6. You will need to name Newstead Wood School as one of your school choices on your Local Authority secondary school common application form ("CAF") which should be submitted by 31 October.
For full information please see our Admissions Policy and associated FAQs page for the correct year of entry at the bottom of this page.
If your daughter has any special educational need or disability that requires access arrangements, her current SENDCo will need to complete a form providing details of the access arrangements currently in place for her whilst sitting timed tests at school. This form will be available while the registration form (SIF) is open and the completed form must be uploaded to your online registration form at the same time as uploading the medical/diagnosis reports.
Please carefully read our Admissions Policy 2026/27 and the accompanying Frequently Asked Questions document, which can be found further down this page. These should answer any further queries you have about the process.
