There is an incredibly extensive range of clubs and activities that are offered before and after school as well as at lunchtime. We encourage all students to take part in extra-curricular activities at Newstead Wood School to complement their academic studies. Not only do these activities develop skills, extend talents and build character, but research shows positive association exists between academic attainment and physical activity levels of students. It is widely acknowledged that participation in extra-curricular activities also has a positive effect on attainment and wellbeing.
Sports, Music, Debating, ICT, Languages and the Duke of Edinburgh feature very strongly in these clubs and the opportunities are extensive where all interests are catered for.
All students have the opportunity to take part in Performing Arts and Music events. There are many visits and trips locally, nationally and internationally that all students can take part in: Skiing, World Challenge, and New York. There are also numerous subject visits such as Languages trips to France, Spain and Germany, Art trips both in the UK and abroad, as well as a plethora of visits in Britain such as Year 8 Camp and Year 9 Ironbridge.
All of these are true learning and development opportunities for students – as well as great fun.
