As part of our celebrations for Science Week (9th–13th March), we were delighted to welcome back alumna Libby Jackson OBE, one of Britain’s leading experts in human spaceflight and now Head of Space at the Science Museum.
Libby delivered a fascinating careers assembly on Thursday 12th March, sharing her remarkable journey from her days at Newstead to becoming a prominent figure in the space industry. She spoke about how writing a letter to NASA propelled her into the world of space exploration—a story that captured the imagination of our students and staff alike.
Before the assembly, Libby enjoyed a tour of the school, reminiscing about her time here, particularly her memorable physics lessons which first nurtured her passion for science. It was wonderful to welcome her back and see how her journey continues to inspire future generations.
