Why Choose us?

Newstead Wood School Sixth Form is a high achieving, academic Sixth Form. Nearly all of our students go onto Russell Group universities and many will join the professions. A growing number leave us after Year 13 and progress to Apprenticeships or Employment.

We are a community of young leaders.  Mature, dedicated and focused, students have the benefit of being based in their own Sixth Form Study Centre which houses 11 classrooms and a Computer Suite. Our dedicated common room and coffee bar balance the academic pressures of Sixth Form life.  Students are respected as adults, and where possible we extend privileges to students to help them manage their own timekeeping and workloads.

We are a diverse and respectful community. We celebrate Pride month, Black History Month, South Asian Heritage Month, Asian Pacific Heritage Month, Holocaust Memorial Day, International Womens’ Day, and others, through a range of events, assemblies, form time resources, societies and speakers. You will encounter, discover and embrace the multiculturalism you see every day in London within our corridors.

From the time you come here, we are helping you prepare to leave. In preparation for life beyond Newstead, our weekly lecture programme offers exploratory talks from universities and degree subject areas through the course of Year 12.  There will be over 30 talks available in Year 12. Students will be supported through the application process for university, foundation courses and apprenticeships very carefully by the Careers and Guidance Officer, and Form Tutors will offer you a great deal of support as we get into the swing of making applications.

We care. You will have a dedicated form tutor, as well as the student support service team and your Head of Year. You will be well supported through any difficulties you experience - personal, academic or medical - to ensure you enjoy sixth form and enjoy learning here. Newstead is a safe space for all of our students, and we work in partnership with our students over the two years of Sixth Form.

We are sure that Newstead Wood School Sixth Form will put you in the strongest position for your future.
