Year 7 Admissions

Year 7 Entry

Registration for the Selection Test being held in September 2026 is now CLOSED as all spaces are now filled - we are at physical capacity for the test on both test dates

We cannot accept any further registrations.  There is no waiting list for test places.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Newstead Wood School is a highly selective girls school, with a co-educational Sixth Form.

Overview of the Year 7 admissions process

  • Register your daughter for the selection test by completing our Supplementary Information Form ("SIF") which will only be available here from 1 May of each admissions year for a number of weeks.  The closing date for registrations will be published nearer the time.  Your daughter will be in Year 5 at the point of registration.
  • Late registrations cannot be accepted.
  • The selection test takes place at the end of the September of the year preceding entry to the school, just after your daughter has entered Year 6.
  • You will receive an email towards the end of the first full week of September providing all information for the test day.  Within that email we will confirm the date window in October during which the test results will be emailed to parents.
  • You must name Newstead Wood School as one of your school choices on your Local Authority secondary school common application form ("CAF") which must be submitted by 31 October.  Failure to do this will mean that your daughter cannot be considered for a place, regardless of her selection test score.
  • SEN(D) Access Arrangements:  If your daughter has any special educational need or medical issue/disability that requires access arrangements, please download a copy of our Access Arrangement Form, available by the button further down the page.  You will need to complete the first page.  Your daughter's current SENDCo/Inclusion Manager will need to provide you with a letter on school headed notepaper answering the questions on page 2.  This form and a copy of the school's letter must be uploaded to your online registration form at the same time as uploading the medical/diagnosis reports and by the registration deadline.
  • If your daughter is a Looked After or Previously Looked After Child, you will need to upload:
    • A letter on headed paper from the local authority in England where the child is currently/previously ‘looked after’. The letter must confirm that at the time of making the admissions application, the child is either currently ‘looked after’ or was previously ‘looked after’ (but ceased to be so because they were adopted, subject to a child arrangements order or a special guardianship order immediately following having been looked after); and
    • If the child was previously ‘looked after’, a relevant court order under English law such as an adoption order, a child arrangements order or a special guardianship order
  • If your daughter is being educated outside of her age cohort, you will need to send an email to admissions@newsteadwood.co.uk explaining the reason for this.  You will need to attach to your email a letter from the Head at your daughter's current school and the letter you will have received from your Local Authority confirming their agreement for your daughter to join a different year group.  This email should be sent prior to the registration window opening on 1 May.
  • Test results will always be emailed to parents at least one week before the CAF submission deadline.
  • Offers will be sent out by your Local Authority on the first business day of March and you must accept/decline as soon as possible direct to your Local Authority.
  • If you have been made an offer for Newstead Wood School, you will also be contacted directly by us once you have received your offer from your Local Authority.  You will be asked to confirm acceptance or refusal of the place to both your Local Authority and also to the School - a link will be provided by the School for this purpose.  If you accept, you will then be asked by the School to complete an online Post-Offer form which will provide us with all the information we will need about your daughter so that we can properly welcome her into the School.
  • CATCHMENT AREA - Our catchment area is 9 miles from the main entrance of the school.  The school cannot check for you whether you are in the catchment area.  There are websites available where you can check this, such as DaftLogic.  Bromley Admissions set the date by which families must be living within a catchment area (across all Bromley schools).  They publish this date on their website at the start of September each year - it is usually a date within the second week of December.  The school cannot confirm this date for you.
