External applicants – either applied but did not receive a conditional offer OR did not originally apply – from 11.30am:
· Please come and see us from 11.30am.
- Before visiting us on Results Day, you must first read the below information which is available on our Sixth Form Admissions page:
- our Eligibility and Entry Criteria
- our Course Requirements list to ensure that your final grades match or exceed our requirements.
- You must bring a hard copy of your Statement of Results, which will be issued by your current school, as we will need to take a copy of this.

Please note that if you qualify for a place we may be able to enrol you on the day, but for our most highly sought after subjects it may be necessary to provide you with a provisional offer while we make some checks. We will then confirm to you by email as quickly as possible if we are able to offer you a firm place.
|
|
Staff will be on a lunch break between 12.30pm and 13.00pm so please be aware you may have a brief wait to be seen.
|
FOR ALL CATEGORIES ABOVE:
- If you would like a family member or friend with you, please only bring one person as it gets very busy on the day and space in the waiting area is limited.
- You cannot send someone to enrol for you. We will always prefer to meet you in person but if it is impossible for you to come and see us on Results Day, you may send a clear full copy of your Statement of Results and confirmation of the subjects you are interested in to sixthformadmissions@newsteadwood.co.uk. A member of staff will review this and will be in contact.
-
If you are placed on the waiting list by a member of staff following a conversation please wait to hear from us. We will not be in contact unless we are able to offer you a place, so we kindly ask that you do not email requesting updates. Please note that offers can only be made where a place on each required course is available, so we are not able to advise on waiting list positions.
If you are awaiting one or more remarks, we cannot make you an offer until you have received your new result, but we may place you on the waiting list if your other grades mean you may be eligible.
-
All offers are subject to final checks by the Admissions Team and final offers will be made in writing to the email address provided to us.
AFTER RESULTS DAY - from Friday 21 August onwards
Please do not come to the School.
Instead, please email your full Statement of Results to sixthformadmissions@newsteadwood.co.uk along with the three/four courses you wish to study. We will review and respond as quickly as possible.
We wish you all the best of luck with your results and look forward to seeing you on GCSE Results Day!
Our Elibility and Entry criteria to Year 12:
Entry to Year 12 is on the basis of academic ability demonstrated by achievement at GCSE. Confirmed places in Year 12 can therefore only be allocated following GCSE Results Day in August.
The minimum qualification for entry into Year 12 (the entry requirements) is a minimum of 4 Grade 6s and 4 Grade 7s taken from at least 8 GCSEs completed in one exam season.
- Grade 7 or higher in subjects to be followed to Advanced Level (or related subjects) please see our full GCSE grade requirements here
- And at least a Grade 6 in English and Mathematics
- Grades at 4 or lower will not be counted
All students in the current Year 11 at Newstead Wood School who meet the entry requirements and their course requirements will automatically obtain a place.
In the event of oversubscription from external candidates, places will be offered to students who meet the entry criteria in the order set out in our Admissions Policy and subject to maximum set sizes not being exceeded in individual subjects. It is important to note that the school may not be able to offer places to all external applicants who meet the minimum entry criteria. A waiting list will be compiled and maintained until 30 September 2026. After that date we cannot admit any further students. We reserve the right to withdraw any courses which are not viable to run due to insufficient student demand.
PLEASE NOTE:
Applicants must have the legal right to be resident in the United Kingdom at the start of and for the duration of their A-Level programme.
Full GCSEs/iGCSEs are the only qualifications considered for entry to Sixth Form.
Qualifications taken in addition to GCSEs (e.g. Free Standing Maths; AQA Certificate in Further Maths; RS Short Course) are not taken into account for the minimum qualification criteria for entry into Year 12.
